Working with Cascade Aerospace

Offloading packages of work to any supplier has associated risks, be they perceived or real. Cascade Aerospace Engineering (CAE) is aware of this and the need for the customer to understand the level of risk associated with a quotation as well as the raw figures. The purpose of the following sections is to show that using CAE as a preferred supplier is a low risk option.

Whilst working in the aerospace industry for various global companies it was noted that many larger organisations wanted to use offload packages as the mechanism for fluctuating resource during the peaks and troughs of workload. Many businesses have aimed at this offload market with varying degrees of success.

Where the offload company has become large it has inherited the peaks and troughs of the business cycle from the customer. There can be a wide range of projects in work at any one time and the offload company’s internal objectives can drive the priorities given to these at the expense of some customers.

Where the offload company is small it is difficult to offer a range of skills suitable for a variety of work packages. It can also be the case that the supplier relies too heavily on one customer and the management of workload fluctuations migrates back to them.

Cascade Aerospace Engineering Limited was set up on the basis of having a core team of highly experienced personnel with the intention to stabilise a customer base and see long term, sustainable growth. The core team was selected to ensure a solid understanding of traditional structural analysis, together with a series of specialisations in areas becoming sought after in the industry. The personnel are heavily connected to the local area around the CAE Farnborough offices, so as to reduce the potential for staff turnover. In this way the company can compete for a range of packages and develop their team to grow with repeat business customers, especially when working in niche markets.

CAE understand that most problems associated with offload packages come back to poor communication. CAE’s philosophy is to develop relationships with their customer base so as to understand the needs of the customer in a business context as well as a technical one. By doing this, successful delivery of a quality product to time and cost becomes a realistic expectation.
